Using the stage name Lacretta Nicole, University of Missouri-Columbia alumna Lacretta Ross, BA Interdisciplinary Studies '03, has landed the role of Levora in the new Broadway musical comedy .
Written by Seth Rudetsky and Jack Plotnick, the musical, which is currently in previews, blends disco with the popular disaster film genre of the 1970s. Ross will make her Broadway debut when DISASTER! opens at the Nederlander Theatre on March 8, 2016.
Ross first set eyes on Broadway while pursuing her studies at MU when she ventured to New York to participate in the "" Showcase. With its origins in the early 2000s, Mizzou on Broadway is the only collegiate literary-theatre showcase in New York, creating a unique niche in the theatre capital of the world for MU students who aspire to careers in writing, production and performance. The playbill for Mizzou on Broadway Showcase presentations at the York Theatre, NYC, Sept. 14, 2002, features Ross in two roles.
While attending MU, Ross acted and sang in numerous productions at the Rhynsburger Theatre in the , including playing the role of Arkadina in The Seagull in 2000. In addition to a reusme that includes theatre and opera, Ross has appeared in film and television including performances on 30 Rock and Law & Order: SVU.
